Bill Condon was born in 1949 and lives with his wife Dianne (Di) Bates on the south coast of New South Wales, Australia. He left school at the first chance he got and worked in an assortment of jobs that did not require much in the way of qualifications. A chance meeting with Larry Rivera, the editor of a local weekly newspaper, led Bill into a career as a journalist. Bill left journalism many years ago and now earns his living by writing for children. His humorous poems and plays have been extensively published, and four of his novels for children have been shortlisted for the Children’s Book Council Book of the Year Awards. Three of them received CBCA Honour Awards.
